Types of Chimney Liners

There are three primary types of chimney liners: clay tile, metal, and cast-in-place. Each has its advantages and drawbacks:

  • Clay Tile Liners: These are the most common and traditional type, known for their durability and cost-effectiveness. However, they can crack under extreme heat and require professional installation.
  • Metal Liners: Often made from stainless steel or aluminum, metal liners are highly durable and suitable for all fuel types. They are easier to install than clay liners and are often recommended for upgrading existing chimneys.
  • Cast-in-Place Liners: These liners are created by pouring a cement-like mixture into the chimney, forming a seamless barrier. They offer excellent insulation and are ideal for repairing damaged chimneys.
